Blue Hole
The Blue Hole in Gozo is one of the most iconic dive sites on the island. Although not as famous as its namesake in Dahab, it certainly has its own excitement and beauty, making it a must-do dive for divers.
The dive begins inside the Blue Hole itself, a natural sinkhole. At just 6m deep, the chasm opens out into the open sea through a stunning natural arch.
At the base of the Blue Hole, about 15m deep, is a cave that adds an extra element of excitement. The entrance is wide and inviting, and inside, divers can surface momentarily to observe the fascinating play of light and shadow that reflects on the cave walls.
Azure Reef
Beyond the Blue Hole, the dive continues to an area that has taken on a new meaning: the remains of the collapsed Azure Window (Azure Reef). Once a breathtaking rock arch above the surface, its collapse has created an extraordinary underwater playground, with huge boulders, imposing rock formations and hidden passages. Exploring these collapsed fragments of history is a completely unique way to experience this legendary site, offering diving like no other.
Coral Gardens
The Blue Hole can also be combined with a dive at the Coral Gardens.
The Coral Gardens offer an exciting combination of topography, despite being relatively shallow at just 10 metres. What sets this dive apart is the intricate network of rock formations, narrow passages and hidden crevices that divers can explore, giving the feeling of being in an underwater playground. The highlight of Coral Gardens is the spectacular contrast between the shallow rocky labyrinth and the sheer drop just beyond, where the steep walls drop abruptly to depths of 45-50 metres. This gives divers incredible views of the deep blue abyss, creating the sensation of floating between two different underwater worlds.
